Since I was so busy before Christmas and am such a procrastinator I never got around to doing Christmas cards...one reason being I have Christmas cards somewhere so I didn't want to go out and buy more when I knew I had some around the house...but I never actually looked for them! Sorry everyone! Thanks to all who sent us a card. Here is our Family Newsletter for 2009 that I meant to send out!
This past year has been full of changes for our family. Sarah graduated from California State University Monterey Bay in December 2008 with her B.S. in Biology. The day after her last assignment she drove with her brother Jeff across the country to Georgia. David was still in Texas finishing up his training but came home for Christmas. In January David finished his training and went to Fort Benning, GA for some more training! Sarah took the PCAT for the second time, applied to Pharmacy School, and was certified to be a pharmacy technician. In March we officially moved to Columbus/Ft. Benning area and rented a nice apartment off post. In May Sarah went to Canada with her family to witness the sealing of her older brother Wesley to his wife Sara. In June Sarah started working as a Pharmacy Technician at Walmart. Over the Summer Sarah took Anatomy and Physiology I and II and a Microeconomics course to finish her prerequistes for Pharmacy School. Unfortunately both schools she applied to ultimately did not accept her. David spent most of the Summer and Fall traveling and doing some more training. Sara retook the PCAT for the 3rd time in October and reapplied to Pharmacy School for the Fall 2010. Sarah's father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the white blood cells. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT, stem cell transplants and has a great outlook! In November we went on a vacation for the first time in a long time. We flew to Las Vegas and drove to California to climb up Mount Whitney. We spent three days hiking up and camping on the mountain but did not reach the summit because Sarah was starting to feel the affects of the altitude. We hiked back down and spent the night in a hotel then drove through Death Valley, CA and made a few stops along the way. We spent the remainder of our trip in Vegas. We stayed at the Venetian and had a good time relaxing, eating delicious food, shopping, and seeing all the different casinos in the area. While on vacation Sarah received an email to come for an interview at Creighton University for their Pharmacy program. We flew home spent the night at our in-laws and David flew elsewhere for training the next day. December 4th Sarah flew to Omaha, NE for her interview. On December 14th Sarah received a call from the school telling her she had been accepted into the program. Sarah is especially excited about this school because they are currently the only accredited school that offers an online program. This means that Sarah has the ability to do school wherever David will be sent. We are both very excited about the coming years and are grateful to all of our friends and family who love and support us. David has more training to look forward to with his new job in the Army and Sarah will be training for her future career as a pharmacist. We would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

On Monday December 14th in the morning I got a call from Creighton University telling me that I was accepted into Pharmacy School for Fall 2010. I was so ecstatic after that phone call that I bounced around the house not believing what I heard. I called David first to tell him but he was busy at work and I couldn't get ahold of him. So I called my dad who was in SLC at the time going through his first round of chemo for his cancer treatment. He had to go but I he told my mom to call me because I had something important to tell her. I called my in-laws and they were both extremely happy...my father in law says we are now Retirement Plan A instead of B...humm. My mom called me back and was wondering what news I had. I told her and she was so excited for me. I called my brother and posted on Facebook. I really appreciated all the wonderful messages people left me. I went to work and told my cooworkers and pharmacists. The two pharmacists on duty were excited and thinking of all the stuff I could do when I became an intern...answering phone calls from doctors offices etc...that was funny. I was excited to finally talk to my hubby that evening. Finally being able to tell him was the best part. I know David is excited for me and us because he knows that I will have something to do while he is busy going everywhere for the Army and that I get to do something I wanted to do in the first place. This opportunity also gives us a bright future because we at least know what one of us will be doing. That way David can take his time and figure out what it is he really wants to do when he decides to get out of the Army. Creighton University Pharmacy School Class of 2010 here I come! Not to jump the gun or anything but I will be officially finished with school May 2014!! Can't wait for the next 4 years.
Wow it's been a crazy last 2 months. David and I went on vacation to Mt. Whitney/Las Vegas over Thanksgiving. We came home and David left the next day for TDY to Maryland. I had an interview with Creighton the beginning of December. I got the best Christmas presents ever acceptance into Pharmacy School, my hubby home for Christmas, and to see my family! Be on the lookout for some new posts and pictures! Happy New Year everyone!
